[Renewing surge] is worse than [flare] spam.
[Channeled Strike] has a 2 sec cast time which is just dying to get interrupted. Same with [Spirit Rift].
Try something like Ancestors & Splinter if you have any melee on your team.

energy, don't think glyph will be enough.
damage, somehow anet screw up really bad on channeling straight damage.
i too have tried to experiment with destrutive was glaive capping abiltiys. (think spirit rift, shadowstep, ancestors, drop glaive. however it epic fails whenever the mob comes.
in order word rit suck a ab, everything is superior to that (no offense)

Whenever I run a rit in AB or the Fort Aspenwood, I just throw together a build with very little thought. Something like:
[Essence Strike][Channeled Strike][Ancestor's Rage][Weapon of Warding][Mend Body and Soul][Life][BloodSong][Destructive was Glaive]
If it's AB, I'll probably get rid of the spirits and take another heal and a speed boost.
Killing seems to work fine with DwG, people just don't expect 120 damage from a rit it seems. Even though that doesn't feel like much, it works.

The majority of AB players are terrible as it is, its not a problem with the build. Rit supporters such as Rt/P with shouts/chants can be incredibly useful in ab.

I do good as a hybrid restore and channel rit. Its just how you set up your builds.

[Ancestor's Rage][Spirit Burn][Mend Body and Soul][Warmonger's Weapon][Life][Offering of Spirit][Weapon of Warding][Dash]
Channeling 12+1+1
Resto: 9+1
Spawn: 9
No nice rit build wthout warmongers imho, especially in AB it can lead to epic lols (be sure to take a fast recharge channel set though). The spirit isn't too much of a problem, the recharge is short so meh, just drop it whenever there's a skirmish.
You can swap spirit burn for splinter, or even spirit rift, but rift only works well on shrines and splinter requires your opponent to be stupid enough to ball up.
Usage is simple, ancestors on your melees on spike, or on yourself as defense, keep warding on self and throw heals at teammates, or whatever the situation asks for. Offering of spirit gives energy, which is lolsome. Spirit burn as spike assist.
Rits DON'T suck in ab, it's a good way to be able to bring some healing while you really don't always need a full monk. Having warding around for palm strike or ranger ganks however is a lifesaver.
Of course you can bring warding on support casters, but only ele applies in my book else you will sacrifice run buff, which isn't too good in AB.
When you have someone around that can apply run buffs such as Charge! or Fall Back! then N/Rt is better with all the stuff dying all around you, but again, you will be dependant on other people messing up.

Well I wouldn't run a spirit in AB. If you are capping like how you are supposed to, then you shouldn't ever need life really. And spirit burn ain't great. It may be one of the rit's better channeling damage spells, but it still mediocre.

Last AB where I was only capping was ages ago, sometimes when we cap people disturb us, sometimes I don't want others to cap something, I'm usually a little more flexible then a capping droid.

I'm personally a huge fan of [[Grasping was Kuurong] in Alliance Battles. It's both an offensive and defensive skill at the same time. You can set up a half decent spike with it, or you can drop it to knock down attacking Assassins to give you time to kite. I find it far more useful than Destructive was Glaive.

Destrucrive was Glaive is more of a caster-spiker (think ele) skill while Grasping was Kuurong is better for Ancestor's Rage + whatever AoE in your face spike.

Not sure why you'd use Destructive was Glaive when Cruel was Daoshen is just as good. OK, it doesn't give you 10% AP on spells - I'll live, and it costs 5 energy more, but it frees the elite up for something more useful doesn't it?

I'm still sorta new to this whole Guild Wars thing, but Destructive provides you damage in a larger area when Grasping only seems useful if someone over-extends on you (RA) or you over-extend on someone, or decide to become a front line rit.

My bad, I wasn't necessarily suggesting it frees up an elite slot for GwK. Actually, I'd hate to take GwK and CwD on the same bar - they're both item spells and together are too expensive. I was thinking more of it freeing up an elite slot for something like [Offering of Spirit] or [Xinrae's Weapon].

Rit's don't suck in AB, try to stay away from those AoE spells like DwG and spirit rift, if you wanna shrine clear just go ele. Where rits excel imo is using single target damage spells while taking secondary heals to help out your team. I mean lets face it theres no way you will out damage any half decent ele or anyone else for that matter BUT! Rits have extremely high survivability (GwT) In most AB games I die an average of 1-2 maybe 3 times. Take dash, take a heal and take soem damage and you will rock.
